When you’re passionate about something, you put your everything into it. You don’t count the hours worked, the sweat spent, or the challenges you faced. You have a goal and you're committed to realizing your dreams.
That’s the sort of work ethic you’ll find in Dominic. He’s a systems engineer team leader for Aptiv and he can’t stay away from cars. He's an automotive multi-tasker. He, and his talented team, are dedicated to diligently testing Aptiv technologies for our customers, which will end up on cars that consumers will soon drive. But, that’s not all.
He also fixes cars for friends and family in his spare time, and even rebuilds race cars. Dominic makes the most of 24 hours in a day. Wait, let's back up... building race cars? You read that right: Dominic and his team are currently converting a standard 1989 Porsche 944 into a high-performance Porsche 944 Turbo.
The end goal? Racing this retrofitted dream car on the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife, a famous Formula 1 race track where many memorable races have taken place. Every year, adrenaline junkies meet for a bit of "friendly" competition, called the Young Timer Trophy.
This is why Dominic brought his Porsche 944 to the engineering garage at our Wuppertal Technical Center in Germany to refurbish. He has also recruited a team of eight fellow engineers and one communications person to contribute their expertise and time on the project.
The race is May 11th. Check back to see the results and how well he, his team, and the dream car performed. Success is simply being qualified to take part in the race, but a checkered flag victory lap would be even better.
