Distracted driving is a major cause of crashes worldwide and in the future, active safety technology being developed may allow your vehicle to measure everything from your wakefulness to your blood pressure, all while driving behind the wheel.
Aptiv is working on a “cockpit of the future” technology suite that tracks a driver’s biometrics, eye gaze or fatigue, posture and even estimates the age of the person behind the wheel. This may seem invasive to some, but monitoring a driver’s alertness and general health metrics could reduce crashes and ultimately, save lives.
