CTO Blog: Need a ride at CES? Show up. Sign up. And ride.

For the past several years, if you have attended the Consumer Electronic Show (CES), you may have noticed a fleet of Delphi-branded vehicles driving themselves around the streets of Vegas. Last year, we demonstrated the most-advanced self-driving route ever at that point in time. The passengers in the cars were invited guests of Delphi – customers, media, investors.

Well, this year’s CES will be a very different experience for us.

First, we are now Aptiv, a global technology company making the future of mobility a reality. And second, we’re opening our car doors to you!

In partnership with Lyft, we are launching the first-of-its-kind, fully automated, point-to-point ride-hailing experience in Las Vegas. Our fleet of Aptiv cars will be able to take Lyft customers on a real-world, automated mobility on demand (AMoD) ride. Lyft customers will start from the Las Vegas Convention Center’s Gold Lot and can ride to more than 20 destinations, and we, in tandem with Lyft, will do the rest.

Our partnership with Lyft represents the future. A future where cities are not built around cars, but around people. A city where the right type of vehicle picks you up where and when you need it. Imagine that.

Combine Aptiv’s automated driving platform, which encompasses our sensor suite, AD algorithms, compute platform, data and signal distribution network – basically, the brain and nervous system of an AD vehicle – with Lyft’s advanced ride-hailing app and transportation network…and you have the most advanced system possible. You’ll certainly be able to experience it at CES in 2018 and you won’t need to roll any dice to win. All you need to do is show up, sign up and ride.

Viva Las Vegas!
